Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
With Jo Aubrey
Jo Aubrey
I’m Jo Aubrey, an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and qualified Occupational Therapist with over 12 years of experience across NHS and private practice settings.
I specialise in trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), supporting adults who are experiencing emotional difficulties, unhelpful patterns of thinking, and challenges that affect everyday life.
My background in Occupational Therapy and CBT allows me to look at the connection between thoughts, emotions, behaviours, physical wellbeing, and the things that matter most to you. I believe therapy is not just about reducing symptoms. It is about understanding yourself more deeply, creating meaningful change, and developing skills that support you long after therapy ends.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and compassionate. I work alongside you to explore what is happening, understand the patterns behind your experiences, and create practical strategies that fit your life.
Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from CBT alongside Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) principles where appropriate. Together, we focus on helping you build confidence, resilience, self-compassion, and a stronger understanding of yourself.
Many clients tell me they appreciate that I make psychology easy to understand. I use relatable examples, visual explanations, and practical tools to help make sense of experiences that may have felt confusing or overwhelming for years.
My aim is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work towards lasting change.
Who I Support
I work with adults aged 18+ who may be experiencing:
Anxiety and excessive worry
Trauma and PTSD
Depression and low mood
Stress and burnout
Low self-esteem and self-criticism
OCD
Health anxiety
Emotional difficulties linked to long-term physical health conditions
Difficult life transitions and adjustment
Perfectionism and people-pleasing

I also support people who want to:
Develop healthier coping strategies

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes the first step is simply having a space where you can begin to understand what you are going through.
