Victoria Davies

Hello, I’m Victoria Davies, a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor specialising in supporting children and young people aged 5 to 25. I provide a warm, compassionate and supportive space where young people can explore their feelings, make sense of their experiences and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges.

I believe every child and young person deserves to feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement. Growing up can bring many emotional, social and personal challenges, and sometimes it can be difficult to find the words to explain what is happening inside. My aim is to help young people feel safe enough to express themselves in a way that feels comfortable for them.

I trained at the Northern Guild of Counselling and Psychotherapy and qualified in 2025, gaining my Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling for Children and Young People. I also hold a BA (Hons) in Creative Expressive Therapies, a University Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Skills, and a University Advanced Diploma in Family Systemic Practice.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over 15 years working in pastoral education, with a particular interest in mental health and safeguarding. I have also worked as a Drama Teacher, a counsellor in a primary school, and within a grief charity. Alongside my counselling practice, I currently work as a School Counsellor in a specialist special educational needs (SEN) school, supporting young people with a diverse range of needs.

These experiences have shaped my understanding of the challenges children and young people can face, both at school and beyond.

My Approach to Counselling

I recognise that talking about feelings does not come easily to everyone. That is why I take an individual approach, adapting sessions to each young person's age, needs, interests and preferences.

Alongside talking therapy, I incorporate creative and expressive approaches, including play-based and arts-informed techniques where appropriate. My background in creative therapies has given me a particular appreciation for how drawing, play, imagination and other forms of expression can help young people communicate feelings they may struggle to put into words.

My approach is supportive, collaborative and tailored to the individual. I aim to create an environment where young people can explore their experiences at their own pace, build emotional awareness and develop practical ways to manage life's challenges.

Who I Support

I offer one-to-one counselling for children and young people aged 5 to 25 who may be experiencing emotional, behavioural, social or personal difficulties.

I can support young people who are experiencing:

  • Anxiety and worry, including emotionally based school non-attendance (EBSNA)

  • Low mood and emotional distress

  • Grief and bereavement

  • School-related pressures and challenges

  • Difficulties with emotional regulation

  • Behavioural difficulties

  • Low self-esteem and confidence

  • Challenges associated with autism, ADHD and additional special educational needs (SEN)

  • Difficulties navigating friendships, relationships and life changes

I have a particular interest in supporting young people experiencing EBSNA, as well as those with autism, ADHD and other SEN needs.

Every young person has their own story, and I believe it is important to understand their individual circumstances rather than make assumptions about their experiences or behaviour.
